About
SCARLATTI Arts international is a film and television production company for music and culture. Martin Pichl founded the company in 2014; it is registered in Madrid and has had a branch in Vienna since 2023.
SCARLATTI Arts produces documentaries about music and the people who shape it, music films in which music tells a story, and recordings of concerts and opera productions. Partners include broadcasters such as ORF, ORF III, 3sat, ARTE and RTVE, festivals and presenters such as the Mozart Week of the International Mozarteum Foundation and the International Baroque Festival Melk Abbey, and ensembles such as Concentus Musicus Wien. Recordings have taken place at venues including the Haus für Mozart in Salzburg, the abbey church of Melk and the Auditorio Nacional de Música in Madrid. SCARLATTI Arts works with Deutsche Grammophon on the online release of selected recordings and with ORF-Enterprise on the international distribution of several productions.
Most productions are made as co-productions with public broadcasters. SCARLATTI Arts usually takes responsibility for development, financing and production – from project development and coordination with artists and presenters through filming and recording to post-production and delivery of the broadcast versions. Depending on the project, English-language or UHD versions are also produced for international distribution.

How we work
SCARLATTI Arts works with a small core team and assembles an experienced crew for each production. Several collaborators have been part of the company’s work for years, among them director Volker Werner, sound engineer Philipp Treiber and lighting designer Patrick Suppan. For concert and opera recordings, camera direction, rehearsal schedules and sound recording are planned closely with conductors, ensembles and presenters. For documentaries and music films, the company is responsible for development from the first idea to the finished film.
Martin Pichl
Martin Pichl founded SCARLATTI Arts international in 2014 and runs the company as managing director. As producer, writer and director he is responsible for the development and production of its programmes. He wrote “Amadeus, Amadeus – Sound of Winter Salzburg” and co-wrote and directed “Memento mori – Of mourning and consolation in music”. From 1980 to 1993 he worked in ORF television, among other roles as assistant director, producer and editor in charge of programmes. He then founded and ran several media companies, including the platforms film.at and events.at. In 2013 he took on management and project development for the Bach Consort Wien.
Working together
Projects are developed together with broadcasters, cultural institutions, festivals, ensembles and artists. Depending on the project, SCARLATTI Arts acts as producer or co-producer. Rights and exploitation are agreed separately for each production, so requests for screenings, licensing or excerpts are reviewed case by case and, where appropriate, referred to the responsible distribution partner.
