The International Baroque Days Melk Abbey opened their 2024 festival on 17 May with Johann Sebastian Bach’s Mass in B minor. In his final years Bach assembled the work from movements written over almost a quarter of a century – his only complete setting of the Ordinary of the Mass.

Stefan Gottfried conducts Concentus Musicus Wien and the Wiltener Sängerknaben (chorus master: Johannes Stecher); the soloists are Trine Lund, Marianne Beate Kielland, Michael Schade and Georg Nigl.
