Momente – Hommage an Nikolaus Harnoncourt

Five years after the death of Nikolaus Harnoncourt, artistic partners and companions meet at the Gasthaus Grünauer in Vienna to remember the conductor. Barbara Rett presents the programme; the idea for the film came from Michael Schade.

Taking part are Bernarda Fink, Elisabeth Kulman, Florian Boesch, Daniel Froschauer, Stefan Gottfried, Philipp Harnoncourt, Mathis Huber, Erich Höbarth, Tobias Moretti, Father Martin Rotheneder and Michael Schade; the duo BartolomeyBittmann plays its piece “Harnoncourt”.

Excerpts from performances conducted by Harnoncourt between 2000 and 2015 – among them Mozart and Haydn at the Salzburg Festival, the New Year’s Concert 2001 and Beethoven’s Missa solemnis at the Styriarte festival – link the memories. At the centre is the question of what Harnoncourt passed on to the musicians.
